Kings: Class Review: Roots

We finished another class yesterday. This one was is called Roots of the American Order, taught by Gordon Lloyd. Every Tuesday, we had one four hour class – yes, the marathon class was a little rough, but it always seemed to go by fast.

The subject matter dealt with was the three different crises of American history: the founding, the Civil War, and the Great Depression. The teachers knowledge was extensive on each (most of the textbooks had been put together by him), so class discussion was the best learning tool.

Tests were straight forward – memorize the structure of the Constitution (not too hard), and be prepared to write some essays about the subject matter.

All students benefitted from the class, especially those who let their true colors show in classroom discussion. I look forward to taking another class with Lloyd, probably Spring 2012.
