Kings: Wikileaks, Fear, and Lack of Knowledge

I’ll start off by saying I would likely never do what Julian Assange, Daniel Ellsberg, or Private Manning have done, that is, leak classified information.

However, the more I read on the subject, the more I think that Assange has done nothing inherently illegal, but he did have wicked (yes, wicked, evil, vile, sinful) intent. Ellsberg and Manning both broke agreements on non-disclosure for sure, so their actions were both illegal. However, after watching the movie “The Most Dangerous Man in America” about Ellsberg, I have a strange feeling that Ellsberg did not have evil intent. He really did believe that what he was doing was for the good of the country. Now, I would love to hear a debate between someone like Ellsberg and someone who agrees with the Vietnam War and is knowledgeable on the subject (like Stanley “Bruce” Herschensohn).

However, Assange’s motives seem to be destructive. Even if his actions were not illegal, they should be (of course, here we get into freedom of press issues). More thoughts later.
